AD Lenhardt has been working with clay professionally for over 30 years. After decades of running studios and helping others create their art, the focus is now on her own work.

A love of both ceramics and watercolour defines her current body of work. Aerial photographs taken on a flight over the surrounding farmland served as inspiration to create tile work. Using various porcelains and handmade or found tools, she stamps images of local landscapes into the clay. Her watercolours on paper continue the exploration of color and translucency. 

A long connection to Michigan, but a childhood spent on the move all over the world, has shaped her both as artist and person. After attending the University of Michigan, she and her husband, Phillip, made Washtenaw County their home. Raising her two children meant stepping back from ceramics for a short period, but with the support of her family she has enjoyed a fulfilling career in ceramics, art education and arts management.
